We will be protesting the FIVE proposed liquefied natural gas export terminals proposed for the Port of Brownsville. We have chosen this date to coincide with the fifth anniversary of the BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill, the worst environmental disaster in US history.
Fossil fuel companies are bad for coastal communities, and we want to show them that they are not welcome here. We are not willing to sacrifice our clean air, clean water and biodiverse wildlife habitats for corporate profits.
We will assemble at the corner of Highway 100 and State Park Road 100, just after the causeway on South Padre Island. This is a median park in front of the intersection where you would turn right to get to Isla Blanca.
A free parking lot is available just north of the demonstration site on Park Road 100 across the street from La Copa Inn. There is also parking at the Stripes just to the south on Park Road 100.
