1950 0212 Brownsville Herald clip -- Romulo Cuellar is no longer a name we hear when Charro Days arrives each year but he was once the iconic symbol which epitomized the Charro and his horse (whose name was Valiente!).

Romulo Cuellar was a well known horseman since Charro Days began in 1938. His horse would dance and rear up in the air as seen in this photo. When the Charro Drive In was built (1949) his likeness was used to paint the mural.
