c1912-16 Portal to South Texas History

 Top left:  Market Square/City Hall building and Ft Brown soldier standing in front of fountain dedicated in 1912 to Major Jacob Brown which faces 12th St.  At right wooden store structures were open plaza and fountain are today between El Tapiz and San Fernando Complex.
Top right:  A burro pulls a cart with two likely "piperos" or water cart boys on E Madison passing Cameron County Courthouse built in 1912.
Bottom left:  A St. Louis, Brownsville & Mexico train with Ft. Brown U.S. Army soldiers
Bottom right:  A trolly car at corner of E Elizabeth and 12th
