Architectural Students Present Conceptual Models for Downtown Plaza

We can conceptualize it as a public plaza called Cathedral Plaza or maybe Keralum Square after pioneering church architect in the lower Rio Grande Valley and Oblate Father Pierre Yves Keralum but that would be getting ahead of ourselves.  What we're about to see are drawings and models by students of the Texas Southmost College Architecture Program.
Here's a small patch of green space looking from 11th St toward Immaculate Conception Cathedral on 12th between E Jefferson and Adams Sts.  There's a small gift shop on the right.
The invitation to this public meeting was posted on Facebook.

Each student presented their ideas keeping functionality and design using real models from other cities which have transformed their downtown space.
Some designs incorporated Catholic symbols in the plaza to tie in with the church while others called for water fountains and trees and many things.  All great ideas.  Here are a few of the students at their tables who were available to answer questions.  They all made brief PowerPoint presentations which left them open to engage with the public about their ideas and to listen to other ideas.
Sorry for the bad quality of photos....
This student and I discussed the importance of such a plan to provide a corridor which connect it to Market Square on the other side of the block so pedestrians have a midway between 11th and 12th Streets but that's not me on the right.  That's some other dude.

I didn't take all their photos or get their names but they all did outstanding!
Here's a nice view of the grand city model looking above from E Washington toward Market Square with the name of program and  list of students.
