KBOR was our family radio station in Brownsville from the late '40's to the mid-80's. My husband, Jim DeWalt, was in his early teens after WWII when, my father-in-law (Herb DeWalt) and his for uncles (Walt, Minor, Willis, and Vance Wilson) literally built KBOR with concrete blocks with concrete inside them to withstand hurricane force winds in Brownsville. It was built on his grandmother's (Kate Wilson, a widow, whose dentist husband was killed on Central Blvd. in a hit-and-run accident) 8 acres. Here's an old article written by friend and Brownsville historian, Bruce Aiken, which I ran across today.
